Joel SpaskyI found an interesting web log of Joel Spolsky at http://www.joelonsoftware.com/ and it has a Tamil version too at http://tamil.joelonsoftware.com/ - a rare thing in the cyberworld! You can find translations and international versions in all obscure lingos of the world, but not anything Indian, leave alone the vintage Tamil!
Worth trying!

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the iron man of India!It has been eons since India had a real nationalistic statesman after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel! All we are saddled with are the third-rate self-centered politicians!

Are we really getting used to the professional politicians? Perhaps we have brainwashed ourselves that we have to live with the current state of affairs and there is no redemption in sight. I think the crème de la crème of the society should come forward and provide the much needed leadership and direction to the youngsters! Perhaps it is time they did that.

Oh, my kingdom for a statesman!

I got a mail which ran like this:

“Being is state, such as being happy. You cannot explain state, nor can you do a state. You can only be a state. You cannot do happiness; you can only be happiness or be happy. Creation works as follows:
being causes thinking, which causes speaking, which causes doing, which puts in place the system to receive and experience what you created in your being and thinking. Being is the First cause.”

What do you make of this rambling!

A week after her teacher bashed her with a bulky record notebook, 17-year-old Caroline T. Daffadil, still struggles hard to move the swollen neck and lift her face. She is unable to stand without support. Tears roll down her chubby cheeks as the Plus-Two student of a government school at Ponneri, near here, tries to pick up a book to prepare for next month’s public examination.
“No, I am not able to hold the book,” she sobs, her neck tilted right. The class topper is unsure of taking her examination.
